Wild Poppies SOLD
As the WILD poppies grow in my garden and just love watching them dance around in the wind
This work is created using the ancient art of encaustic painting — a 2,000-year-old technique invented by the Greeks. Beeswax is combined with natural resin and pigments, then applied while hot and fused layer by layer. Sue Mac Dougall is one of the few New Zealand artists working with this demanding medium. She first studied it while living in Greece and later went on to teach it in New Zealand. The result is a surface with rich translucence and sculptural depth, bringing a rare and timeless quality to the piece.
